The small press venture I'm undertaking with a friend announced itself to the world yesterday. I thought that with that up, now would be a good time to show some of the unused comps for our first free .pdf ebook,

With the first option I was going for a sort of rustic modern look. I altered a photo of the wood counter at work and dug through fonts and came up with this:

After that, I thought maybe I should maybe try something a little more classic, and this photograph I had laying around screamed "classic poetry collection" to me, though I stuck with a more modern font choice:

I then came up with an alternate classic look, with a framed picture, and perhaps more conservative font choice:

With the final design, which the author chose for the cover, I went modern again. This time I was trying to be more abstract and vibrant. The best thing about this cover, I think, was that it really gave me a chance to get creative with the interiors of the .pdf.
